As far as I know, there hasn't been a secondary source that has confirmed that these new exploits even exist. Every news story about this over the past 2 weeks seems to be based solely on what Heise is reporting. I'm not sure what the truth is.
    Intel has confirmed it!
Read above, or the article, where it says Intel has requested for a 2 week extension, to work on the microcode, before the CFVE is made public

    Hi,

I have Win10 1803 and today I check Windows Update but it doesn't find KB4100347 so I ahve installed it from the Microsoft Catalog Update. With version 1709 I have the update KB409007 beacause my pc has a Braswell in the list. Why Windows update doesn't find it? in the microsoft article there is write that it can be found in WU or download manually from the catalog. Is a problem of my WU or You have installed it from the catalog?

Does that mean that on PCs with fixed BIOS, that don't need MS microcode, we will have to hide the update, or Windows Update is clever enough not to install it?

Up till now, it doesn't offer me the update either. Let's see....

Edit: I have Intel® Core™ i5-5200U, Broadwell, 306D4, updated to revision 0x2A by hp provided BIOS.

According to the article you posted,

Intel has yet to confirm the existence of the Spectre NG CPU flaws.

I initially interpreted the following press release as confirmation. But I'm not so sure anymore.

Windows update would not pull it down. Tried many times. Finally gave up and downloaded the manual install file for 64bit. Now for the first time my CPU says protected for both. Still says Microcode Update Available but I don't know where they get this information. I have looked for my i7 3820 for hours and never found any other update other than what was posted here. :)

I downloaded from the update catalog for my main machine. My test machine (no bios update available from the manufacturer) has yet to see KB4100347 through Windows Update.

Either its a typo in the KB or it hasn't been published to the update servers yet. MS has a track record for both possibilities, the typo has happened for an out-of-band CU, while Flash updates are frequently slow to be published.

Edit: my money is on 'typo'. The KB contradicts itself, the first line below the table states...
This update is a standalone update that is available through the Microsoft Update Catalog...
    but further down states...
This update is available through Windows Update....
They can't both be true statements.
