Hi,
Looks like a prime example why people want to disable 10 updating way too many releases in a single month lol :)
Hi,

Very confusing, to say the least. My CPUID (306C3) is part of the list presented in the first page of this thread, but so far I haven't gotten the update yet after checking 2 times with MS updates in settings. For now, I will wait a day or two to see what happens next.. Nothing either for BIOS update in HP Support page. My BIOS/UEFI version is current.
Now according to @Ground Sloth, it seems that this KB was not updated at all. For the time being, I will let Microsoft do its things via Windows Updates..

I got KB4100347 thru WU yesterday and checking HWINFO the Micro Code Revision was 84. Today I was checking HP's site for my HP Envy 750 Desktop (906E9) to see what/if any updates might have been released lately. There was a BIOS update from July 2018, so I figured with the BIOS update I didn't need KB4100347, so I uninstalled it and did the BIOS update. So now HWINFO now shows Micro Code Revision at 8E and upon checking WU it reinstalled KB4100347, but Micro Code Revision is still 8E, which I guess is to be expected. InSpectre say's I'm still patched, so that's good.
What does all that mean ... I'm not sure anymore, as this stuff makes my head hurt ...
Even though Windows Update shouldn't be installing KB4100347 on your computer, it probably won't cause any issues. Windows won't update the CPU microcode on boot if the microcode update that the BIOS loads at POST is newer.
However, some people are saying that Windows Update is installing KB4100347 on AMD machines. That could potentially cause problems.

Yea, I could uninstall and hide it, but it's not causing any issues.Even though Windows Update shouldn't be installing KB4100347 on your computer, it probably won't cause any issues. Windows won't update the CPU microcode on boot if the microcode update that the BIOS loads on boot is newer.
Same thing on my HP Envy 17 Laptop (306C3) with KB4100347 ... Micro Code Revision 24 and after BIOS update it's at 25. Didn't even bother uninstalling KB4100347 :)
Hello Eagle51. To say I'm confused is an understatement. I got this update this morning after a manual Windows Update check -- it never came down automatically. My CPUID is 506E3 as listed and according to HWinfo my Microcode is C2, which is listed. I presume I got the correct update.
Now, KB4346084 also shows my processor with the same CPUID, but, a Microcode C6. Am I correct in believing I do not need to get this one? Also, InSpectre says I'm patched -- it also said that after a BIOS update in March.
Is KB4346084 showing in WU when you do a manual check for updates? Now, KB4346084 also shows my processor with the same CPUID, but, a Microcode C6. Am I correct in believing I do not need to get this one? Also, InSpectre says I'm patched -- it also said that after a BIOS update in March.
If it is and since it shows your CPUID in both and KB4346084 is the latest. It shouldn't hurt anything to install it either way ... If you get a performance hit ... you could always uninstall it.
Note: At this point, I don't think we know for sure why it seems everyone is getting KB4100347 (i.e with my BIOS update it really shouldn't have gotten reinstalled on my desktop)
If my OEM ends up doing a BIOS update for the issue will I need to find and uninstall this update? Or deactivate with InSpectre?
