Just finished with 17666, took 2 hours. Odd things I noticed so far:
    1. Settings/Network & Internet/Data usage showing ethernet causes a settings crash after ~5 seconds.
    2. Last two updates, sound theme resets to "Seashore" rather then my normal "windows"
    3. Some folders in explorer are brown while the others are yellow. Without regards to yellow, why is one brown. i.e C:"ProgramData is brown, if I open that folder "CanonBJ" is the only folder brown etc.
    4. SoftwareDistribution folder is empty

Program Data is a hidden folder. The colour cast is intended to show that.

Everyone has their tastes, that's your opinion and is respectable, I saw the immense amount of images that you uploaded and I didn't like the transparencies or those icons. Those icons are fine, in my opinion, they don't seem old at all but, as I said before, it is a question of tastes and opinions,
You're probably a lot older than I am. Usually the older people are not concerned as much with how something looks, as how it works. That much I can understand. But I'm an artist among other things, and how something that I have to look at every day, and work on every day has to be more than plain Jane crap.
If you think this New Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast and Skip Ahead Build 17666 - May 9-111.jpg isn't a simplistic antiquated looking icon, in the 21st century, then you know absolutely nothing about graphic design. This looks exactly like the simplistic crap icons that were in my Corel graphic's suite I used in Windows 95. Yes, different people like different things. But I would bet the house, most people into tech today, would prefer a much more detailed stylish icon set for this entire operating system. Not some simplistic, non-detailed box. JMHO!

You can clearly see my age in my profile, and I repeat, it's a question of opinions and tastes, for me those icons are just fine, they are not the best, but they are fine, instead, those transparencies, dark theme and icons that you showed in those images I can't stand them but I completely respect those who like them.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I usually don't look people's profiles up, unless they friend me. So it was not my first instinct to look at your profile. I was only basing my assumption off of your comments. I've had hundred's of people on several forums upvote my design, and ask for the files I used. You are the first person I've actually encountered who said he doesn't like it. But I don't have a problem with that, as I didn't design it for you. It was designed for me, because I am the only one who will be looking at it daily. But it's pretty easy to tool around most of the web forums today, and see how much MOST people in tech hate the graphic's of Windows 10. And this is not new, they've hated them for decades, and now Win10 is obviously no exception. It's horrendous for this day and age to use these simpleton icons. They might have been fine two decades ago. But the only difference now, is they rounded the corners. Otherwise pretty much the same. So it's all good.

    Hi,

Fair enough.... I'm one of those "form follows function" guys myself which is probably why I still like W7 that much.
You know, from Mies Bauhaus through that beetle on to that lovely Porsche kinda guy.
    Quality over quantity bloke really...

    Cheers,

What the hell has age got to do with it?

Aesthetics is personal. Arty people probably care more than scientific people.

Only difference perhaps older people simply are wiser and understand that there are more important things in life to worry about rather than trivial cosmetic issues.

When you disable the transparencies of the system in Settings-Personalization-Colors and after a while you use the toggle to enable them again, this happens:

And the Start menu also looks like this:

At least in my case, you have to sign off so that everything returns to normal, it may be that the addition of Acrylic in the titlebar in Sets is causing this.

Go totally Dark and turn on 'Grayscale' in Color Filters...
