    Frankly I'm tired of all the browsers and other programs fighting and reminding you that they want to be the "default" program. I wish they would all just shut up and let me choose what I want in peace. But like I said above, it's about the money to be gained by being the default.

    And you don't think Google doesn't track everything you do with their products? They're even worse.
    I'm sure they do but the LOL part to me was that here he has a brand new operating system, brand new browser to try out and the very first thing he wants to do and does is to download Chrome. (which in all honestly I would have done to if I hadn't done the upgrade that left my Chrome sitting just fine)

    I seem to remember seeing a plethora of "do not ask me again" toggle boxes and buttons...

    .......... for many users not as skilled as the users of TenForums switching defaults is intimidating and they will stick with the defaults if not given an easy option to switch.
    And those users will never figure anything out. That's why they have the government to do it for them.

    The problem is it is more difficult in Windows 10 to change the default browser. In Windows 7 within Firefox or Chrome you could choose to make it the default browser from within the browser. Now you have to go outside the browser into Microsoft settings to change the defaults. Also when I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 where I had Firefox as my default browser the migration did not keep that preference and If you choose the default setup preferences it will make Edge the default browser.
    First time I launched Firefox after upgrading to 10 it asked as I thought it would if I would like to make it my default browser. Been that way ever since.

    Did you set as a default without having to going into the settings? If yes, it was either fluke or you are using an older preview build.

    @Ztruker.

    You can set the default browser to Firefox and Cortana will use Firefox to search Bing,
    I'll be danged. I thought I had tried that already but just did it (again??) and you are correct. I set Seamonkey as default browser and Cortana opened it to do the web search.

    Thanks
