Ok I have a question for any and everyone running 1803 now. Does your taskbar refresh from time to time even when you are doing nothing but looking at the screen? Mine was doing this when I upgraded to the Insider version of 1803 and I just passed it off as a bug in the upgrade. It is now doing it on a clean install.
It is not a problem but rather just annoying as ***. Just posting to make sure I am not the only one seeing this. :)
Yes, I have noticed that. It happens very quickly but all the icons refresh in an instant. It might even have done it on the previous Fall version. But yes, I've noticed it. Super clean install here as well.

Ok ... Does your taskbar refresh from time to time even when you are doing nothing but looking at the screen? ...
No, but when the 1803 update rebooted, the taskbar went from the normal black band at the bottom of the screen to blue like the rest of the desktop with the icons still in place. It took me a second restart for it to return to the original normal.

So...
Quick test as I thought this would trigger it and it did. I have Dropbox installed but set not to run at start up. So I open (run) Dropbox and that caused all the icons to refresh even though I have nothing Dropbox related on the taskbar.

It appears this is just like the discovery service breaking some networks by not running when it should. It is not affecting everyone, but only some of us.

That is weird. I had just posted in another thread and as I hit my vape, I saw it refresh.

Well I just tried the Dropbox thing and mine did not refresh.

Certainly for me and its something I've seen before and so I didn't really class it as a problem as such, and like you say it happens so fast anyway.
I'll try and take note of when it does it and what I'm doing.

I think the refresh is because the desktop is set to slideshow...problem in File Explorer with many folders...
-
I will try to watch it as well and see if I do something that might cause it. My first thought is the TranslucentTB I use to make my taskbar completly transparent. With some of you having the same, that kind of debunks that theory.

Nope, I have a set picture.
