    Did some testing the other day.
    Started with a clean install of 10 Home, skipped entering a key. PC activated with the DL it already had. MCT ISO
    Then I did a change key and entered the Pro generic key. No prompt to activate. PC upgraded, rebooted and activated with the DL it already had for Pro.
    Did another change key and entered the Pro Workstation generic key. Prompted to activate and failed as this PC doesn't have a DL for Workstation. It didn't upgrade.
    Did another change key and entered the Education generic key. Prompted to activate and activated with a DL it already had for Education. No reboot.
    Did another change key and entered the Enterprise generic key. Prompted to activate but failed as my internet went down. It upgraded anyway with no reboot.
    It activated when my Internet came back up though. Enterprise was originally activated with a MAK key,
    Education was also originally activated with a MAK key.
    Just a FYI post. I'm going to do the same thing with my MSDN Business Editions ISO.
    This was all done with a local account.

    @alphanumeric a quick question:
    The Education MAK key was for Windows 10 or Windows 8/8.1, cause I have an 8.1 MSDNAA (Academic) key, which has never been used and I was wondering if it will be activated when entered in a Win10 clean installation.

    The key I used was a Windows 10 Education MAK key. The only Windows 8.1 MSDN keys I used were Pro and Enterprise.

    EDIT: I don't have any 8.1 Education product codes listed in MY Visual Studio Subscription.

    The 8.1 Pro you had (like the one I have), was activated before for Windows 10, so it already had a DL? Cause mine has never been activated neither as Pro 8.1 nor as Pro 10.

    I'd have to go look at my list of Product codes used on what PC. I've done so much testing that If I don't write it down things get very blurred. My laptop shipped with 8.0 Core, that I upgraded to 8.0 Pro with my MSDN key. But clean installs of Windows 10 would get me 10 Home because of the embedder OEM key. Then it went to Pro, Education and Enterprise. I think it even had Pro Workstation on it. I can for the most part, now do a skip key and pick any edition I want from the list on a clean install and that PC will activate with a DL. There are only 1 or 2 exceptions depending on what PC it is. I can also do a change product key and go up to just about any edition I want.

    No prob. OK I'll work on adding an event trigger (I think it's EventID 6416) that launches the task when an external is inserted...
    @pietcorus2

    I tried adapting the first version to run silently but Kaspersky blocked it as Heuristic ... so no-go on that one.

    However, the following will auto-create the silent launch file and the task for you and run silently on log-on and when external in inserted.
    The event it uses turned out to be in 'Microsoft-Windows-Ntfs' and EventID=98 to trigger the task when an external is detected.

    NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdateTaskv2.ps1

    Please test it and let me know.

    May I suggest those with real issues they need good help with, start a new thread. This one is getting cluttered with side topics. I however do encourage those that updated with zero issues to post same here. IT would be nice to know who had good results. Also, how you upgraded, with the MCT, or VIA Windows update "check for updates" etc. That's stuff I personally would like to know. Or if you clean installed. Just my thoughts on how this thread is going. Issues posted here will be hard for others to find without reading the whole thread, which is getting long.
    One side issue that your post effects, is the fact that we could actually rep thoughtful posts like yours as they would not be in News
