There are probably other things too Wynona. All I know is that it didn't work. I uninstalled Sumatra and it worked. Just to confirm I reinstalled Sumatra and it crashed again.
Hmmmm, since a PDF app messes things up, maybe I'll try uninstalling Adobe Reader and see if that fixes things.
Horror of horrors, Edge could be jealous of any other PDF reader because it wants to do all the reading . . . farfetched, I know.
Edit: Nope, uninstalling Adobe Reader did nothing to resolve the situation. Sigh . . .

I have found that if you go to the application's settings and make it default , it will work.
That doesn't work for me. All it does in the case of setting it as default in its Settings/Options at least for me is become more dysfunctional because then on every launch of program it requests to be set as default. The setting does not stick. And set default by apps link does not work.
If I set sumatra as default in set default by file type under .pdf. it will then remember it is default in that it won't request it further but set default by apps still does not work.
If I uninstall sumatra then all is fine, set default by apps work. Using portable works fine too.

I am one of those who have all my favorites configured just with the icon, both in Chrome and Edge, after installing this Feature update I found them all with the name and I had to do this:
One by one!, at FCU it was that easy and fast:
Of course the insiders already knew this but I still don't understand why Microsoft eliminated that option in A2018U.

Second laptop updated using Check for Updates. No Sumatra installed. Set defaults by app looks like it will open but after say 20 seconds screen goes blank.
Agree a clean install is best but this is a bug, along with all the other bugs that need to get patched.

Same here, auto-resets on restart - will have do it via logon task and script, I think.

I got the upgrade yesterday as well...i noticed you guys mentioning it, so out of curiousity, i ran my updater and it popped right in :)
Went very smoothly, other than needing to boost my volume control back up, all settings were the same, all apps and data retained as well...Was really surprised to get it on the first day of release...

" Same here, auto-resets on restart - will have do it via logon task and script, I think. "...…….so Im not the only one with this strange behaviour !
This can kill your SSD ( shorter life !) , coz it should be set at "1" , and stay at "1" !
A solution would be very welcome …………….!!!!
( will have do it via logon task and script , can you make this script...…….??)
