Anyone having a problem with indexing? The Indexing Troubleshooter fails to fix this. The windows Search service cannot be turned on, it starts then fails immediately. The Event Log is full of Event IDs 7023 and 7024.
Code:Log Name: System Source: Service Control Manager Date: 01/05/2018 13:49:10 Event ID: 7023 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: 17134-1 Description: The Windows Search service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find the drive specified. …. Log Name: System Source: Service Control Manager Date: 01/05/2018 13:49:10 Event ID: 7034 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: 17134-1 Description: The Windows Search service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 13 time(s).
Edit: Apparently this has happened with previous upgrades, found the fix with the help of this thread from the Fall Creators Update. Windows search service won't start after fall creators update
The security permissions for SYSTEM on the 'System Volume Information' folder had been demoted from 'Full control' to 'read, execute' during the upgrade. Restoring full control for SYSTEM fixed it.
