    Windows 10 Home 64-bit v 1803
       19 May 2018 #910

Windows Update downloaded the 1803 update to my Lenovo laptop on the evening of May 17, then started the "installing updates" process. This began a little after 10:00 p.m. and was still going on (68%) when I gave up and went to bed at 2:30 a.m. It was ready for restart when I checked at around 9:00 on May 18. I wasn't ready at that point but found the system behaving oddly--text was displaying either incompletely or not at all in applications (e.g., Task Manager, Word, Acrobat Reader . . .). However, bookmark logos and text displayed in Firefox and e-mails displayed normally. I restarted at 1:00 p.m. and installation completed at 4:30 p.m. The system came up normally and everything seems to be working fine. OS build is 17134.48, so I assume this iteration of the 1803 update included intervening CUs. Overall it was a pretty smooth experience.

WU downloaded 1803 onto my husband's HP laptop and did the pre-restart installation on May 18. I haven't restarted it yet, but have observed that the HP has no problem displaying text. It also has an update for v. 1709 and an HP update waiting for a restart. Hopefully WU will sort out the update sequence and install everything with no problems.

Successfully installed on the HP laptop today, in about half the time it took on the Lenovo.

Testing out cloning with Macrium and all goes well until the C:\ drive is reached. I get that I have no permission to access it? Malwarebytes pro enabled or not. USB ports are USB 3 and caddy is USB 3. Testing as I've a new Crucial SSD due tomorrow.

Will stick to an image I think but does not answer the problem. Still think its an enclosure/caddy issue.

Overall it has been a rather good experience for me. That networking bug in 1803 is enough to drive me mad though.
. However, I found a workaround to fix the issue with regard to networking not working after April 2018 Update and it is really a cinch:
    - click the windows orb at the lower left corner of your desktop
-Type "services.msc" to go the Services window.
    - Scroll down all the way to "Function Discovery Resource Publication". You will find that it is set to "Manual"
    - Double-click it and then click "start" and after that, set it to "Automatic"
    - It is imperative to restart your PC and you should be back in business.
    - Do the exactly same to your other PC or PCs.

It worked for me big time. I hope it will do the same for you

funny you picked Access Denied for this reply, since (think so) he was the first to dig out this workaround (probably in the mess of MS forums) and is helping other users by hundreds

I didn't read the whole thread to see if someone else has already found the workaround. It never hurts to repeat it (if so). I am just trying to help since I have been facing the same issue and couldn't find a solution up to now.

No problem. That's the purpose of tenforums to help each other, at least that's my conception of the reason why we are all here.

    @Diankah

Dian, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4 14" Laptop. I'd like to be able to do a clean install on it, but so far, I can't get it to boot from my USB Drive. I looked it up and the instructions said to hit F12 just as the Logo popped up. I did, but it didn't. I turned off Fast Bootup before trying F12, to no avail. I've tried several times with no results.

Is there some other secret to booting it with the USB Drive?

    Thanks . . .

No, because I've only booted to HP Laptops. Never had a Lenovo Laptop before, so no experience there. Besides, the instructions for using F12 came from Lenovo. I did try to do the deed on my own before asking for help. :)

Anyway, I have the tutorial now, and will follow it as need be. Which may be pretty soon, since Lenovo seems to be stuck on 95% downloaded.

Thank you very much, kind sir!
