Yes. I checked for updates the other day, and I'm now on 1803.
Edit: That is, I manually checked. So maybe not automatically updated.

1803: Is Windows Update automatically checking for updates?

1803: Is Windows Update automatically checking for updates?

Previously, in version 1709, Windows Update would check for updates every time I turned on my pc. Since it was upgraded to version 1803 it seems to have stopped doing that.

It is no longer saying that updates will be installed automatically. When I click on Advanced options this is what I see:

When I click on the 2nd option ('Automatically download updates...') it won't turn on. It seems I have to manually check for updates for now.
Is there a solution for this?
    Eddie.

You have sensibly stated a new thread for this specific problem (this one is getting too cluttered). That '2nd option' is only supposed to control how updates are downloaded over metered connections once the automatic check has found a new one, a fuller reply on the new thread...

I may sound like a conspiracy theorist but I don't believe they are pushing it out yet without manually checking for updates. Nobody I know has been upgraded and I have not read about a single person who was automatically updated. They put out 17134 and with very little Insider testing they rushed to release it on the last day of April, shouldn't have officially named it "Windows 10 April 2018 Update" in the first place two weeks earlier to put them in a box to get it out on the 30th. I'm not averse at all to installing new builds and CUs, in fact I install them as soon as they are available but I'm holding off on this one. This release has caused too many problems and system crashes and the CU fixed very little, in fact has caused major problems of it's own. If it's caused this many problems to experienced users and it is released to the general public (who probably don't even know it is coming) it will be a PR disaster. I know some have installed it without problem but the percentage of users with major problems is way too high at the moment. If they are/were releasing it automatically they should pull it and allow enough time to get it right before it is pushed out.

I was updated on my HP Envy laptop yesterday. I'd looked at update in settings and there were the Patch Tuesday ones that needed me to do a restart, they would have done themselves but I told it to update now. After the restart it went into checking for update mode and came back with the 1803 update and started the download. I went with it so now this machine is up to date, I then did the same process with my Asus Notebook so that's all up to date now.

I've still got to check my desktop, also there's hubby's desktop and laptop to do but I'll leave them to him, he'll yell if he has problems. His desktop is the same make and model as mine an Acer and his laptop is a Toshiba Satellite, which is a few years old.

I'm waiting too since I really don't care for this changes!

Funny thing is I manually checked for updates, Windows 10 April 2018 Update was found but since I always leave my connection to metered it didn't download the file. So I just left it alone and for like 3 days Windows would make a defender pop up saying I should update but I ignored. Now it does nothing and just gave up it's like there is no important update anymore hahahahaha

I can be wrong but I just choose to wait even more after it. Feels like Microsoft decided to not push it to me because a lot of ppl is having problems :)

    What do you guys think?

Towards the end of April via the Windows Insiders program I updated my old HP laptop and my self built AMD desktop. No problems on my laptop but on my desktop I have intermittent shut down and sleep problems. About 75 percent of the time the computer will go to sleep of shut off normally but sometimes it will appears to shut down of go to sleep and either I will get a black screen or a blue shutting off screen but the fans do not shut off and I see the disk LED blink occasionally.
I believe I resolved the problem. The Microsoft 5/8 patch did not fix the problem as I had hoped. I used the command "powercfg.exe -h off" at the admin command prompt to eliminate the hiberfil.sys file. So far my desktop computer goes to sleep and powers off normally. This also shut off the fast startup and I saved 11GB of space on my C drive. Since my C drive is a SSD the boot time remained the same.
