Or just quit Insiders, and sit right where you are. Presumably everyone is going to get that CU that brings them to .5. If that turns out to be deprecated and a new CU supercedes that, well, then you can back it out. That's my plan - I've got .5 from Insiders. I have quit Insiders, and will just see what happens. If .5 turns out to be on the main road forward, fine. If not, also fine.
Thanks @sgage. I appreciate the advisement. I did remove the KB that was attributed to the 0.5 and left insider program on one computer. The other 3, I am leaving as is. We'll see what the .5 means in another week or so!

It could be that the devs fixed the issue in 17134.1 and .5 won't be needed.

    Format usb drive as fat32

    Mount iso as a drive

copy files from mounted drive to flash drive.

Make flash drive partition active from disk management for legacy bios pcs (or where it has been set in bios).

Rufus is not really needed unless making custom wims over 4GB in size.
If I understand you, which setup for disk 4 will work before mounting and copying? Tx

I note the iso created with MCT does not have Win 10 S in it. I know later on some time, Win 10 S effectively disappears with each edition having an S mode but that is at least six months away. Surely current 10 S should be included in this iso?
Apparently it's not six months away, it's here now with 1803.

    Microsoft said:
Beginning with Windows 10, version 1803, you can enable S mode on supported editions. This is a change from previous versions of Windows where Windows 10 S was its own edition with its own base media. To enable S mode, you'll create an unattend file, and then use DISM to apply the unattend file to a mounted Windows image.

I really don't know how that would work. A build is a build - you can't backport the change and have different 17134.1's floating around out there. If they decide they don't need the actual bump in build number, the fix would still have to come in an update anyway. Or it could be an entirely different build number. My guess is that .5 is at least on the path.

That said, maybe .5 is on the path forward, or maybe something entirely different branching off of .1. I'll just wait and see.

Windows 10 Duel booting with Windows 10 Insider

On one machine with Windows 10 Pro I created a USB using MCT and did a clean install only to find out that the clean install of 17134.1 left me with the home version rather and Pro. I used a Macrium Reflect image to go back to my Pro Insider version of 17134.1. Clean install not worth the effort or time for me, to little to gain.

If this machine was originally supplied with the Home edition of Windows 8 or 10 then a Home key would have been embedded in the firmware. Setup picks this up and installs Home to match the key. To force the install of Pro rather than Home on such a machine, you can add an ei.cfg file to the install USB as described by @NavyLCDR here...

What do you do when you can’t quit the insider program? Every time I try to leave it and tell it which option and confirm, when it asks me to restart, it fills in my previous selected windows insider options and doesn’t let me leave program, upon restart it is still there. I’ve done this over and over. Grrrrrrr.

I converted my USB drive to MBR, (ref post #532) ran the MCT tool again and got this. Now have to see if it will in fact work. Tx for the tips guys.

Thanks, good to know. I also found I could use an old Windows 7 Pro key to "upgrade" the Home build.
