has been added to two of my computers today -- both on April update of 30th. Just installed one April 30th update and immediately received the build that makes it 17134.5 There had been speculation that it would be taken up to .5 build.
Ah, just what I figured, Magilla. You're still on Insider Build 17134.1 which does update to Build 17134.5, not the April 2018 Update, which doesn't update to Build 17134.5 yet.

Check Windows Settings and you will most likely see that you haven't left the Insider Program with those computers.

Trying to make a USB flash drive installer from MCT. Lexar 16GB flash drive, NTFS. Went with defaults with the exception of 32&64 bit versions. Failed 3 times so far with this "problem" that I am guessing is about 3/4 way thru the process.

Known problem if you try to use a USB that has a gpt partition table, the MCT doesn't know how to deal with it and gives up. I investigated that back in December.

After failure, the USB is left 'unalocated'. You can create a new simple volume using Disk Management to make it accessible again but, critically, its is STILL using a gpt partition layout. Only DISKPART or a tool like MiniTool Partition Wizard can make it MBR again.

The MCT only fails after it has downloaded all the files it needs, verified them and created the media in preparation for copying it to the USB. It is not until this point that it attempts (and fails) to format the USB.

Unfortunately, the MCT cleans up after itself at close, so you have to do the whole download over again next time you run it.

I downloaded latest update with MCT1803.EXE and installed the resultant download - are you saying that the download isn’t the April update? It says that welcome to April 2018 update on final boot

Thanks, Bree. I'm glad I didn't try to use the MCT tool! I used the Heidoc.net tool, downloaded the ISO from Microsoft and used Rufus to create my bootable USB stick.

It's almost as if the Personal Computer Revolution never happened. The whole point was to have your own programs, running on your own computer, running your own OS, with your own data storage. I remember the late 70's/early 80's, how exciting it was. And here we go, back to terminals time-sharing on a mainframe. Er, I meant 'thin clients working in the cloud'.

I may be about to move on to Linux full time - been dual-booting it with Windows since '98. It has come a long long way since then!
I am thinking about going back to Linux as well. I used it a great deal in the late 90's.

Rufus is not needed, a few DISKPART commands, then mount the ISO and copy all the files across is all I do.

Yes, it is the update, Magilla. However, I believe you're an Insider, so unless you quit the Insider Program on those computers, you just reinstalled the last two updates we Insiders have already installed back on April 20 and 23, if memory serves me correctly as to dates.

Old habits don't die easily for me, Bree. I've been using Rufus almost from the get-go, so it's just easier for me to do. :)

What you got with the MCT IS the April 2018 update, which IS 17134.1. If you did a clean install, and are not in the Insiders Program, and WU delivered you 17134.5, that is strange. Are you sure you're not in Insiders?
