Sadly it didn't work well. After installing and first opening into the Windows account (classic "Hi" messages), I saw file explorer icon in the name of weird "Microsoft account tab", then I decided to restart. But after restart, typing password, I got stuck on loading screen.

I tried, startup repair, no luck. F5 into safe-mode worked and I tried sfc scannow, no luck.

Luckily I didn't delete windows.old and now back to prior version. I will try updating again now. (cleaning the windows update). I downloaded the update assistant tool.

    edit: any tips beforehand?

Yes, Shawn, I thought I was saying that. Manually check for update.
I have the Dell D630 on insiders, did one laptop via Check for update, one by flash key, and the desk top via the software download link "Update now" button. All worked, all get the 17134.1.

    Hello @JimWiz1, :)

It should be available via Windows Update, but it is a staggered (phased) release.

unfortunately this major update removes the kb4090007 which was released as optional by MS, therefore losing the spectre protection given by the uCode update. Hope MS restores that or includes uCode updates in future April updates (such as 17134.5 for instance). Is there anything else we can do beside waiting for an updated build number which hopefully includes it again?
I updated to WinVer 1803 (OS Build 17134.5 thru Insider, tho I am not presently in Insider - and per InSpectre, I am fully protected. You might try InSpectre with 17134.1 again. If not, 17134.5 evidently fixed it.

Are you sure your BIOS\UEFI wasn't updated earlier on ?
Reason I ask is that the IP version of 17134.1 and .5 do not offer any mitigation against Spectre.

    Cheers,

@Xtreme512. If you use MCT to create a USB, then you plug USB in and navigate to Setup.exe.

Double click setup.exe. (Don't boot from USB.)

This is the in place repair / update process. Recommended that Secure boot be disabled in BIOS. Make sure you keep your files.

Brink's tutorial and it is all outlined within
