...the microcode is out there - sooner or later MS will put in in an update for us (won't they?)

    maybe in 1803.....
I don't think they can still call it 1803, maybe it's going to be 1804..my guess!

Sorry to hear that. I was from the lucky ones. Got it Feb. 23. And to be honest, I didn't find it on this page, but from the support page of my laptop. This page showed the update 2 months later!
    Patience then mate!

You are right about that. This is a bit confusing and can be cause for concern. The only thing I can think of is when one gets to Microsoft Update catalog, there are 4 lines for download one has to be careful which one to pick. Two are for 03-2018 and two are for 04-2018 and each of the four goes either for (x86) or (x64). I was myself a bit hesitant, at first, when I got there until I figured out which one was for my machine. Mistake can happen to anybody. If that is not the case, there is something else under the hood that no one knows yet about..
That's a good point, however, I know for certain that I had the correct download because not only did it work on one of the 2 PCs (both 64-bit) but during the long-drawn out process described above, I downloaded it a second time! Also, the earlier one had already been tried and did not work. Finally, not only is the correct one 1.2mb, with the earlier one being only 1mb but the Digital Signature of the later one is:

The earlier one is 04- March 2018

    Good tip though - thanks.

    Good morning my friend @VBF.
    This is getting really frustrating!
I'm afraid you have to wait and try different updates, just hoping to get lucky.

BTW: How does the performance thingy work? I see some have "Slower" ?
Maybe you already had the answer to your question with regard to "Performance", but I found this:

Performance: If this says anything other than “GOOD”, you have an older PC that doesn’t have the hardware that makes the patches perform well. You’ll likely see a noticeable slowdown, according to Microsoft. If you’re using Windows 7 or 8, you can speed things up some by upgrading to Windows 10, but you’ll need new hardware for maximum performance.

It is an excerpt from a How-To-Geek's article:
