Craig, I think you got it wrong. The patch has been applied, that's the reasin for the slow performance. The question is why although the patch is applied it shows as NOT protected
OIC... my bad... so the MCU just caused a slow down w/o protection?

Does un-installing the MCU revert to good performance?

But the Intel list doesn't show microcode revision - there is a column called "Pre- Mitigation Production MCU" but it's empty for both the processors i have...or do you mean AFTER the MCU is installed?
New Production MCU Rev should be 0x2D, according to Intel and your image. Either way, what is the revision now!

Just been researching this and I admit I don't know the easiest way to find it.

Thank you (learning all the time!)

    On the failing system (the 206A7) I get 29 (Reg_Binary 29 00 00 00)

    According to Intel
    Haswell (including H, S) 306C3 should be: 0x24....so you're up to date.
Sandy Bridge 206A7 should be: 0x2D... NOT updated!!!!

I quite agree - but why? I've applied the same MCU to both - exactly the same file and let Windows restart. I even shut the laptop (the failing one) down and restarted.

Both show this Click image for larger version.

    Good question!

Do you wanna try reapply the patch and reboot to see if for some reason it failed?

OK let's think it over....something is definitely wrong in the Sandy Bridge.
Try to uninstall and reinstall it... (my first thought)
