I never turn off Secure boot for clean installs, and all goes fine here at least on my systems, Guess each system different in things that need to be done. System running perfectly good though, so happy there--will download the 1803 ISO though when final, and save that for future clean install, since running good with in place upgrade over 17133.73 release preview version, I may not do a clean install right away at least on this system
Maybe my Secure boot is different. Mine is in my BIOS. If I don't turn it off, I have a devil of a time booting from a thumb.

It depends whether you are installing a UEFI OS that is fully compliant with secure boot.
Windows 7 will not install with secure boot enabled. Windows 8/10 will install with it enabled. AFAIK, most but not all Linux installs require secure boot to be off.
Once installed, secure boot should be switched on again if switched off as a further malware protection.
Personally no. But it's a good security feature of Android that keeps tamperers away from code they do not understand. Windows S is already a step towards this direction.
Yes it's annoying to have to root your device in order to be able to modify system files. But then again, every Windows user account should be configured with similar privileges. We don't use mainly our computers to modify the system, but to run applications to get information and/or create our own documents. Once the system is setup properly there is no need for daily usage of an admin account.
I've told this many times: once system is setup properly, use an account under User group instead of Administrator group. It will save you from a lot of trouble.
Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10 will automatically encrypt devices which meet certain hardware requirements - I think the hardware specification was called 'InstantGo'. For instance the OS drive must be solid state rather than spinning.
This disk encryption applies to all versions of W10, even Home. It encrypts the drive in the background by default; you don't have to switch it on (but you can switch it off).
One of these requirements is that Secure Boot must be switched on, and the gotcha is that if you switch off Secure Boot, you won't be able to read the drive any more. (That was my experience in W8.1 at least, and I assume it's still true.)
So be careful with switching off Secure Boot...
