Good Morning All, Installed this early via Insider Release Preview, having 1 issue on my Asus G11CD Desktop, some reason Defender seems to get stuck on Getting Protection info for a bit, Should I go for another clean install when this releases Monday April 30th? Currently running 17134.1 from Release Preview that I dropped out of this morning, Eventually Defender finishes loading or whatever its doing and says No action needed, so maybe nothing

Otherwise not seeing too many other issues that would warrant another clean install, trying to limit writes to my Western DIgital 250GB SSD, but heck if I have to do another clean install, then so be it
Let the dust settle for a few hours/days. Windows needs time to do it's maintenance processes, before everything runs smoothly.

Well I joined Insider Release Preview on 4/21/2018, so would think it would be settled maintenance wise by now, but will wait a few more days, and see how things go

Mine does the same after every reboot:

It takes a couple minutes after reboot, then all is well again. If you have a 3rd party antivirus installed the Defender tray icon will also turn red until this process completes. I tested it in another thread to help another user.

Oh ok Thanks Access Denied, guess nothing wrong with my system per say if others have same issue, so just will relax and see if fixes with future cumulative update

Yeah, it's not an issue. Defender checks for updates quite often.

True, but it IS still included in 1803 so it should be expected to work - and wouldn't the likes of Macrium require the same RPC calls?

Anyway, it's academic now - let's wait to see what Monday brings...

Windows 10 April 2018 Update will be available Monday, April 30
I saw this on ZDNET this morning. Finally a concrete announcement.

Like others have said, nothing to worry about. Same goes for saving your SSD I'm Insiders program since… well long, two or three updates per month, some clean installs and my (Insider's) SSD is still in great condition

I seem to remember some discussion on whether this was connected to the Sumatra PDF reader being installed.
Yeah I did see that earlier in the thread, but I don't have Sumatra PDF installed on my laptop. I use the Opera web browser to open PDF documents.

Defender Update refused numerous times....solved by running Windows Update Troubleshooter….then doing a Virus Threat Protection scan.
