Weirdly enough, uninstalling SumatraPDF fixed this for me.

Verified by re-installing it to see if I could replicate the crash, and yep.
Though some have reported the crash without having SumatraPDF installed, this would still seem an important clue - have you reported it in Feedback?

I'm not on my Insider right now, but curious if this still works, or is there. Win Key + R, copy/paste

    control /name Microsoft.DefaultPrograms /page pageDefaultProgram
Answered my own questioned. Tested on a 17134 VM, no go. Goes to Settings>Default Apps, but works...does not crash.

I don't have Sumatra on my comp. Perhaps there are several progs that crash it.

Maybe MS telemetry have the answer?

    Installed SumatraPDF, crash.
Maybe just coincidence, but PDFs have always been, for me, difficult to get Windows to stop forcing Edge to open them. It really wants Edge to be the PDF opener. I finally got Firefox native PDF reader to work fine. The, finally got Adobe DC to work, but it was like pulling teeth! Edge is finicky with PDFs for some reason. I had to go to file associations and force .pdf to be either FF or Adobe DC.

Is it Sumatra that is the problem or is it that Edge is not the default PDF reader?

It crashes for me with EDGE as The Default Browser but MS is not concerned about it.

I wonder what the common denominator is among the various people experiencing this problem.

(BTW, is that a Sumatran Tiger in your avatar?

My pdf reader was set to Chrome so I set it to Edge and it still failed.
