Both mine are manual, I've never had cause to change them, but then I've never had an problem with updates. Could be it's a workaround that only a few systems need?
That's it exactly. I have only found one system that gave me trouble. Think I'm gonna set those two back to manual, just to be safe.

    so just use :

    SC config trustedinstaller start= manual

    to switch it back?

what about the other 3 items in the Code you used above? I will need to undo this on my Desktop too as I tried it there, before finding that IM Virtual/Ram Disk was the Issue with updates on it.

ImDisk Toolkit / Tickets / #9 Win10 x64 1703: error 0x80070001 on winupdate/store as long as ImDisk Toolkit is installed
I went looking for them in another system, to see what they should be normally, so I just changed the settings in Services, but I suppose you can do it as you say.

    Open services

    find WINDOWS UPDATE (wuauserv)
double click, change it to MANUAL

    find WINDOWS MODULES INSTALLER (TrustedInstaller)
double click, change it to MANUAL

The other two are normally set to auto.

I installed this last week on a Thinkpad T460s. It downloaded and installed fine, but after the reboot it would not find any wifi networks. The search function when you click the Windows(Start) button also didn't work. Uninstalled the update and the issues went away. Decided to reinstall the update and the same issue happened.

Thanks Simrick but I didn't get a chance to do this as .402 downloaded and installed but Windows Update is now set to Automatic (trigger Start) and Windows Modules Installer is back to Manual , not sure if .402 reset these or not?

Thanks for the Follow Up Simrick , I will change Windows Update Service back to Manual then , looks like .402 didn't reset it then.

Yes, odd that it would change one and not the other. Oh well....who knows with MS?
