Any reason not to download this and upgrade my non-Insider machines?

None that I can see. I already did so and did not run into any troubles except for Spectre mitigation no longer working on a machine that was fully protected.
I guess MS will issue an update for that soon.

    Cheers,

Two and a quarter hours to the desktop. Just about what the last few builds have been.
~1h and ~1.5h here. A bit slower than on my VM, but my user profiles are a lot bigger and I have more apps on physical machines.

I can't currently find any reason why not. Working like a charm here, though IP builds got me a tad worried for a while. But seems all issues I had are fixed now.

It is easier than it sounds once you have sussed out the sequence. This can be done using any Virtual Machine.
I believe it is possible to install 32bit UEFI in VMware - if so sequence is simplified as for 64bit sequence below.

In simple generic terms for 32bit UEFI installations on VMS that cannot boot 32bit UEFI

    1) back up tablet with Macrium Reflect

    2) Clean install FCU Windows as LEGACY BIOS in a vhd larger than 32Gb e.g. 60GB

    3) Restore C partition from tablet image over clean installed C partition

    4) Run Macrium Reflect "Fix window boot problems"

    5) Expand C drive to fill all space on VHD

    6) Upgrade installation

    7) Do disk cleanup etc. - check installed files less than say 30 GB

    8) Image backup C partition

    9) Restore C image partition to tablet, over writing C partition

    10) Run Macrium Reflect "fix windows boot problems"

If device has 64 bit UEFI install or (VM supports 32bit UEFI), the sequence is rather simpler

    1) back up tablet with Macrium Reflect

    2) Restore Macrium image in a vhd larger than 32Gb e.g. 60GB

    3) Expand C drive to fill all space on VHD

    4) Upgrade installation

    5) Do disk cleanup etc. - check installed files less than say 30 GB

    6) Image backup C partition

    7) Restore C image partition to tablet, over writing C partition

    8) Run Macrium Reflect "fix windows boot problems"
Thanks for the detailed step-by-step process. I'll be getting with him this weekend (his sons' combined birthday celebrations) and will see what he wants done with it.

1803 seems to be impossible to download (at the moment, at least) using UUP Dump:

    Attachment 183496
@Kari - it is working again. I'm downloading it again and making a new .ISO to compare with the one that I previously made.

Yes, because you are in the insider program.

Before resorting to this, remember if you add a flash drive, disable hibernation, do disk cleanup, move data to sd card etc, you can usually upgrade. I strongly recommend making a Macrium Reflect image first (and I mean MR as I tested all the main players and only MR and Easeus worked on 32bit tablets).

Clean installing on a tablet is fraught with issues as many tablet drivers are not in standard MS isos. Many have had issues with no touch or screen rotation after a clean install because drivers were not available. Even traditional powershell driver backup commands do not always backup these special drivers.
