Taiwanese Apple supplier and motherboard maker Foxconn has announced its acquisition of Los Angeles-based Belkin International for $866M this morning. Belkin owns Linksys and WeMo, and also makes a wide range of networking, home connectivity, cellphone accessories, cabling, and IoT components as well.
Foxconn Interconnect Technology, a unit of the Taiwan-based Apple supplier Foxconn, is acquiring Belkin Intl., a U.S. electronics accessory maker, for $866 million.

Foxconn, which is best known in the U.S. for assembling iPhones, has been expanding its operations into the U.S. In July 2017, Foxconn announced plans to build a $10 billion plant in Wisconsin to manufacture large LCD displays.

The acquisition of Belkin, which is based in Los Angeles, gives Foxconn a major U.S. maker of smart home devices, Linksys routers and dozens of accessories and chargers for Apple and Android smartphones and devices.

I hope the Belkin products improve. I've had nothing but bad luck with Belkin and now avoid that brand.
