I think you didn't understand me well, I'm not talking about updating with UUP dump, a tool that I've been using for a looong time and which I've been talking about in this forum for several months:

Announcing Windows 10 Insider Fast+Skip Ahead Build 17035 for PC

Cumulative Update KB4043961 Build 16299.19 for PC

I'm talking about doing the upgrade using WindowsUpdateBox tool, directly from the UUP files without creating the ISO.
Oh, I see now. Basically download the UUP files, then download the WindowsUpdateBox.exe file from the same site, and we are good to go! Interesting...I will try that later...

    Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, there's a lot going on under the hood both with testing and code changes, that never gets a spot in the release notes.

Personally I would like to get a 100% complete and accurate changelog of every single bit and byte in new Windows builds, but I guess that is asking for too much.
You and a few others would be the only ones that understood it if they did!

I had the update ready, so I selected "update and shut down". Next day, I switched on, stupidly expecting things to just work, and it took another 25 minutes.

It has always been this way! The updates are basically installed but cannot be finished off until pc is rebooted.

Like Martin said....that second phase where you see Trusted Installer doing it's thing, is a restricted state before it totally hands off to the OS. Usually pretty quick, 25 minutes sounds a bit long.

I am really bored of testing the no watermark change in 17128.

I change background, I reboot, I do repair upgrade, go back to 17127 with watermark and reupgrade but nope - never a watermark on 17128. I can totally confirm the no watermark change in 17128 is truly robust :-D.
