I haven't been offered this update yet on any of my 3 PCs running v1709 Build 16299.309. I wonder why not?
Yes. One of the mysteries in Windows 10.
Perhaps time to do the manual install from MS Update Catalog.

I've just updated the PC's manually and notice the Defender Exploit settings are now correctly set to their default values on all PCs.

    System Exploit Parameters

Just to say that System Exploit parameters were ok (default values) under *309 and they haven't changed with this last update. Only the one shown in the first screenshot is not available here (post #37/use strict CFG).

Defender's improvements in 1709 are impressive and it remains stable here.

That very much depends on what country you are in. The EN-US version is known to have had no problems, other lanquage versions including EN-GB, Greek and Italian had a totally garbled Exploit Protection page since 16299.248, now fixed in 16299.334.

Thanks for the info Bree. I wasn't sure about the language packs conflict. The machine is en-US here and it explains why there are no issues here.

    All the best,

slightly OT: did MS stop with the uCode release through KB update? They were updating KB4090007 and adding other CPUs but they suddenly stopped. Latest file update is March 9. Does anyone know why? I thought they were gonna add all the 8 generations of intel cores, instead only the latest 3 gen have been supported in that KB...

I don't think they had stopped. It is a work in progress and they are making sure that the microcode firmware update is tested and working before they release it to the public. You should have a look at this link regarding Spectre & Meltdown:

I'm having problems with this update. Basically I'm in a sort of restart to install loop. I reboot the PC, it installs the update, then WUpdate tells me is waiting to reboot to reinstall it again, and it happens over and over and over . Any fix? At the moment, I uninstalled it just to be sure...

Are you clicking on Restart (which is what you're supposed to do), or are you actually rebooting the PC?

In that case I used the restart button embedded into WUpdate window.
