"but if, for example, you open an image with the Photos app and then open several UWP apps in the other tabs and close the window, the next time you open the same image you will see the option to restore all"

Puzzled, did not work for me...grrr

Got back on Insider Skip Ahead track by following this post https://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to...nsider-program. This requires the modification of two values from "Active" to "Skip" instead of the one value that may still be on this forums.

I making the ISO right now. It just completed and I will reboot. I must have downloaded the en-GB version of 17623 but this is easy enough to change if I ever need to re-install.

    Restarting . . .

@martyfelker..quick question as I'm quite new to the Insider Program. I have been using Windows Update to get the Skip Ahead updates. Where to you get the download from, to make an ISO from or am misunderstanding you?

(Just read this I presume the ISO is not from Microsoft and is only for a fresh install & not an 'update'?)

It is easier than it looks. Tutorial leads you through the steps. If you cannot handle this, then really joining fast ring is not for you. It is essential to pick up iso creating skills as Fast/Skip builds can be quite flakey at times.

The Slow Ring brings out full ready to go isos.

Can you define 'flakey'? Do mean that for some reason the install fails then you use the ISO to try again??

Being on the fast ring will get you bugs (sometimes show-stopper) bugs from time to time. If you use your PC for work purposes or aren't familiar with how to recover from one of these bugs, I would suggest slow ring or even the last full release of Windows.

I have used Acronis many times to 'get me out of a stick'. I have strict daily full image backups over a week on several drives and am fully able to restore my system in 4 minutes!!

So my question again, please. Why do I need an ISO and how are the updates 'flakey'? I'm simply curious so that I make my life easier with the Skip Aheads, which are great. Thank you.
