After following the instructions from MS support community to fix the "requires a restart to finish install" bug and restarted the computer I found this new updated waiting to restart to complete. It went smooth and all is up to date.
    Thanks MS

Several months ago, I turned off the option to have Windows download updates from PC's on my home network (only 2 of us), or PC's elsewhere on the internet. Since doing that, I have received ZERO monthly updates. ... Could having that "Get updates from other PC's" option turned OFF, be the culprit?
No, it should have no effect on the ability to check for updates. You could try turning it on for just 'PCs on my local network' to see if it makes any difference, but I doubt that it will.

Try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

    I noticed that too. . .
I wonder if this could be a factor ?
I run Task Manager to see what's taking all the time. TiWorker.exe gets heavily involved in the cleaning up of the windows updates backups, so probably yes.

Did a MR image before checking for updates. Noticed that the image took quite longer than normal. However, when finished with the image, went to Software/Distribution/Downloads and it was packed with files. Went to check for updates and was greeted with the "Restart" button. Convenient? perhaps, but it did the download and install without notice. Don't know if I am "ticked" off nor not.
    Hi,
I do all my win-10 images with the winpe recovery media to insure 10 is not doing anything like that..... in the background :)

    Thank you for replying, Bree.

Task Manager was what I was using too, so I guess with a wait chain. . . you just wait. .

I haven’t had any issues with updates for awhile until this one. The update for Adobe Flash player has been at 0% download for about 30 minutes. I’m starting to worry something went wrong.

The other two are waiting to be installed.

Restarted my laptop and WU said there were problems installing some updates, so I hit retry. Hopefully it works this time.

CU failed with error code 0x8024200d

Does anyone know what I should do?

That code means: "The update handler did not install the update because it needs to be downloaded again."

Try again? If that fails, run the Windows Update Trouble Shooter. If it still fails, try this tutorial.

Thanks! I tried again and the CU downloaded and installed without issue. Everything seems fine now.

I did google the error code first and I read about deleting everything in the Software Distribution/Download folder. Wasn’t sure about doing that.

With modern backup tools like Macrium Reflect, this is not necessary as they use VSS which keeps track of any changes. In fact, advanced features like scheduling do not with in winpse moce.
