No - that will not work. More problems are caused by deferring updates than doing it. Make an image backup of current install, and do the upgrade.

In that case I'll let it upgrade and then clean install when I'm ready. :)

Sooo, today is the day? I will laugh my socks off if they don't release it but instead announce it with a release date.

Upgrading from Home to PRO etc, using generic keyd stopped working in FCU. You need to use a valid key, or alreadt have a digital licence for version you want to upgrade to i.e. you cannot upgrade to an unactivated version now, only clean install unactivated.
Yeah, I know, I want to test that. My PC's pretty well all have DL's for every Edition. They have all had Home, Pro, Education and Enterprise activated on them at one time or another. 10 S on at least one too. I have keys if I do need to enter one.

Then they will accept the generic key fine.

OK - here is the killer question - will SCU still accept 7/8 keys to upgrade?

    Good question :)

I'm down to three active systems at present, all of which are working fine after update to SCU due to their Digital Licence tied to MS Account.

    I have a few Retail MAK's around (7, 8, & 10), but nothing to use them with

Think I may be getting a touch of Build fever

If you don't want to wait for the Spring Creators to be released this month, then yes you could join the Insider program to get it, and stop getting preview builds once you do.
