10.0.17134.1 / Streaming Volume Controls / Web Search in Cortana

Went backward for testing SCU (clean installed 334). Only one long lasting bug remains in this build. In the new sound section, each streaming tabs gets a volume control, but the sound section displays many more. Nightly & al.

Only Tor Browser Beta gets the correct amount of volume controls. If a bug, was getting the DCOM error. Otherwise, 17134 is a pretty good continuity of Ten. No other issues, same as 17133.xx

Editing the hosts file prevents Cortana from searching the web and restores Edge default search engine (main page). Requires NotePad ++, open with <<run as administrator>>. Save as a raw file (no url),exit & reboot.

    Hosts file location:

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Add the following at the end:

    # Block Web search in Windows:
    0.0.0.0 Bing

Presume the release of the cumulative update for 1709 today means no redstone update will arrive today or in next few days. Seems odd if they inflict a cumulative update on everybody and then immediately release the feature update.

Stranger things had happen, so don't count your chickens before they hatch... or getting eaten by herons afterwards...

Nothing up on My Visual Studio Subscription, still a bit early in the day for that though, even if this is release day. Something that gives me a bit of a chuckle when ever I go there, is it always has "New" in Red text by Windows 10 in the downloads section. That's supposed to indicate a New release for that product. I don't ever remember not seeing it there for Windows 10, so I always end up having to go into that section and have a look see.

I thought not everyone gets the update at the same time. For some, it might take months to get the update from what I understand regarding the fall creator's update.

Yes, its a staged staggered release. "If" you wait for it to happen on its own, via Windows update, you may wait a while.

Alternatively.... the so called 'blocking bug' may require a fix in the version being upgraded as well as to the new release. Note that 1607 and 1703 also got their second CU for April on the 17th. Preparing the way for a release today, perhaps?
