It's just the opposite of XP Mode. XP Mode lets you run more software. Windows 10 - S doesn't let you run anything that isn't preinstalled. Other than Approved Store Apps. That's how it was when I tested it. Maybe S Mode won't be as restrictive, I doubt it somehow though.

    Hi,
Sure you and everyone has used S mode
It is the default win-10 install before one adds anything from online sources/ .exe files... or actually removes any built in apps :)

Not really, there's many win32 programs/Apps which I haven't seen in S. At least half of Accessories are still win32 to say nothing about applets and control panel for instance. No idea what they did with them in S. Gonna have to download and try it on another disk.

I am the only one in this thread that is not being silly. I upgraded from Windows 7 , programs and all so I never used Windows 10 S. I used Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. Got it?

S mode is a system that only allows the user to run Windows Apps from the store

Windows XP Mode was an optional add-on that allowed you to run an XP Virtual Machine in Windows 7 Pro X64 (without purchasing an additional licence for XP ), it was provided to allow the user to run certain XP programs that did not follow enough of the WDK to work correctly natively in W7

It was developed for those businesses that had bespoke software written for XP, and were unable to get this upgraded for whatever reason. One good feature for business was that it allowed the icon to be displayed on the desktop and when clicked it would invoke the VM and switch to it - Great for those users that get confused easily
