    Cumulative Update KB4090913 Windows 10 v1709 Build 16299.251 - Mar. 5

    UPDATE 3/13: Cumulative Update KB4088776 Windows 10 v1709 Build 16299.309 - Mar. 13 - Windows 10 Forums

    March 5, 2018 - KB4090913 (OS Build 16299.251)

Applies to: Windows 10 version 1709

    Improvements and fixes

This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Significant changes include the following:

    • Addresses an issue in which some USB devices and onboard devices, such as a built-in laptop camera, keyboard, or mouse, stop working. This may occur when the Windows Update servicing stack incorrectly skips installing the newer version of some critical drivers in the cumulative update and uninstalls the currently active drivers during maintenance.
    • Addresses issue where some devices may fail to boot with "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE".

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

For more information about the resolved security vulnerabilities, see the Security Update Guide.

    Known issues in this update

    Symptom Workaround
Windows Update History reports that KB4054517 failed to install because of error 0x80070643. Even though the update was successfully installed, Windows Update incorrectly reports that the update failed to install. Select Check for Updates to verify that there are no additional updates available.

You can also type About your PC in the search box on the taskbar to verify that your device is using the expected OS build.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
Because of an issue that affects some versions of antivirus software, this fix applies only to computers on which the antivirus ISV updated the ALLOW REGKEY. This issue is resolved in KB4088776.
Because of an AD FS server issue that causes the WID AD FS database to become unusable after a restart, the AD FS service may fail to start. This issue is resolved in KB4088776.
After installing KB4090913 the Mixed Reality Portal may fail to initialize resulting in error “SXXXXXXX-X” or may present a “We couldn’t download the Windows Mixed Reality Software” message after the software is successfully downloaded. This issue is resolved in KB4088776.
Users with Windows 10 Version 1709 Enterprise that have installed the January 2018 Delta package may encounter failure issues when installing the February and March 2018 updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog. Specifically, the Windows 10, version 1709 February Delta Update may silently fail. Microsoft is aware of this issue and has expired the following Windows 10 version 1709 Delta Update KBs on the Microsoft Catalog on March 13, 2018:

    KB4056892 – January 2018

    KB4074588 – February 2018

    KB4088776 – March 2018

Microsoft recommends that users uninstall the Windows 10 version 1709 January KB4056892 Delta Update package and install the March 2018 full latest cumulative update, KB4088776. Customers may resume using Delta Update packages with the April 2018 Windows 10 version 1709 monthly cumulative update.

    How to get this update

This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update. To get the stand-alone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

Important When installing both the SSU and the LCU updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog, install the SSU before installing the LCU.

My x86 machine downloaded to 100% then restarted the download before successfully installing. Checking the update history shows two failed installs (error 0x80240034) and a third successful one.

0x80240034 WU_E_DOWNLOAD_FAILED Update failed to download.

My x64 machine had no problems, installed on first attempt. But after the install SuperFetch did go mad for about five minutes with 100% disk activity. All calm and working well now :)

This caught me by surprise as just finished a Ryzen 5 1600 build and when rebooting after sorting out the lan drivers it installed the update, must have downloaded at light speed!
Other two PC's I've had to go look for it.
