It appears Microsoft pulled this update. One system updated thru windows update to 251 last week, but all others are now staying at 248.

That's an hour earlier than usual. At least a support page is up already.Does @Brink know?
March 13, 2018—KB4088776 (OS Build 16299.309) https://support.microsoft.com/help/4...date-kb4088776
edit: I should have known he would
Thanks, I've just realised that was the reason.
I hate Patch Tuesdays because of my self-imposed routine...
Install update, disk clean-up (system files), save system image to local partition.
Wouldn't be so bad if it was just the one machine, but for my test machine there's an additional 'restore each image and perform the above' to do and then, when all is done both machines get an 'image all partitions, including the one with the image(s) to an external HDD'. Usually take me until gone midnight UK time, the extra hour is welcome :)
I am back stuck in this same update loop. Today in a boot Windows informed that install updates and boot, then after boot at 94% stage it says that update failed and cancelled changes. Same as I had last week. In updade history it says (KB4090913) (4) failed. System info presents same 16299.248 as before. Now booting again to see how bad this loop is this time.
[EDIT] 3 boots and update loop keeps coming. Then Image health as before with steps 1+2, same result in Image health window as last week but this time update loop still exists. And now update tells that updates available (KB4090913). Error code 0x800f0922. Last week after IMAGE HEALTH step 2 this update availability disappeared, but not this time. Then I did a test there in Windows update where it states that update (KB4090913) available and reboot required, so I clicked re-boot right there and result is that it doesn't even try to install that update; issue is now only that this update information is just "hanging around" without trying to be installed.
[EDIT 2] After about 7 boots that "update and boot" disappeared when trying to switch off PC, but in "check updates" it still exists as availability to be installed.
[EDIT 3] Also tried a standalone installation after EDIT 2 of latest cumulative update, that try crashed after boot.
