I plan to do a repair install of Windows 10 from within Windows 10.
It says in instruction that min. 8,87GB + of what Windows is currently using of free space required on the Windows drive. I got 11,6GB free, probably is not enough? Right click of my Windows folder properties says about 22GB currently, so is it 22+9=31GB required?

My current version is 1709/16299.248, so if I shall choose a never version .309? I got this .309 yesterday for another Win 10 PC, and seems to run smoothly, and in this forum I see only positive feedback for it. Any comments/suggestions?

[EDIT] I did again Windows update troubleshooter, found 3 fixes, and then WU offered me .309 update which I tried to install. At 98% it fails and returns where I started week+ ago. So seems like repair install if the thing to do? But second try with troubleshooter doesn't cost...

I know, I know.... Since he tried to update again since we're back to square one, right ?

Could you jot down the exact error code that it throws up ?
Also, when updating try to keep the hardware as basic as you possibly can. That often helps see it through.

As you mentioned, a repair install is in order, but before doing it, it would probably be a good idea to run "Disk Cleanup" with elevated privilege (type disk cleanup in search box and left-click it in the results while holding ctrl+ shift at the same time). That would clean Windows Updates leftover and give you some wiggle room on your hard drive for the repair install,

Repair install takes a bit of time (one hour or so..) but at least you will still have your applications and data files untouched and oftentimes it will fix your issue:

    Cheers,
WU doesn't give error code for latest try to update for KB4088776, it only says that boot required, had several boots already but this same returns.

But previous try to install update for KB4090913 shows error code 0x80246010

    Hi,

That seems to point to erratic internet connections. Are you connected through wi-fi or ethernet ? I'm just asking, I very much doubt it's related.

If it were me I'd probably start afresh if I were to be sure there's no hardware problem whatsoever.

One more reason to go for the in-place upgrade (repair install). It sounds like your Windows Update data base is corrupt. Just saying..

I had problems with KB4090913 and sfc /scannow showed that the analyticsevents.dat files were corrupted and out of sync. I had multiple copies (6) of the updated that had downloaded on 03/02/18. I finally fixed things by doing a system restore from a system image done prior to 03/02/18. Then everything updated after KB4090914.

I have excellent VDSL2 internet connection, and this desktop PC is CAT6 connected to my ethernet network. This morning WU finally tells error code 0x800f0922 for (KB4088776) (3) update failure.
