Hi,
Same situation as I am in after upgrading to SCU.Desktop PC - i7-7700k (Kaby Lake S)
1. InSpectre - says I'm no longer protected against Spectre (KB4090007 was protecting against Spectre)
Cheers,
Hi,

Cheers,
so by upgrading to SCU you get an updated uCode for older CPUs but not for newer ones? How...how is that possibile? Shouldn't all uCodes available at the date of SCU release be included in the OS?
Just tried build 17133 on an i5-520M laptop and no microcode update. It seems that only build 17639 has the microcode updates!?
Once on 17133 I cant get the skip ahead update to 17639, says skip ahead is closed, so I’m waiting for Tuesday’s production release.
I’m going to make a copy of the microcode files used by windows just in case these get reverted or changed my MS/intel!

Hi all, Just read through this thread several times and find myself to be very confused (not unusual)
My main PC has an Asus Z87-A Motherboard with the Haswell chip set (Intel i5)
The list of processors that KB4090007 covers does NOT include this chipset. Further,in post id #7 @Brink says
"If you don't have the CPUs listed in the KB4090007 article above, then you don't need the update."
As I understand it, @Brink, in post id #11, you advocate leaving it installed if one has already installed it. (Idid, but then UNinstalled it)
Fair enough, but then in post id #19 @fdegrove suggests NOT leaving KB4090007 installed as in this case ".....it then would load a cpu micro code that does not correspond with the cpu you're running which could lead to BSODs eventually".
So, am I correct in thinking that KB4090007 is irrelevant to Haswell chipsets?
Does anyone know whether there is an update for the Haswell?
FYI - this is my result from the Spectre & Meltdown Vulnerability checker Ver 8.0 WITHOUT KB4090007 installed.which says there IS a microcode update available!
HELP, please!
Same on my ASUS Z97-K , " Mine says that too, even with KB4090007 installed..." , Bios version 2902 ( 2016 ).
So , how do we solve this problem.............??
This update installed on my system but InSpectre from GRC still says I don't have protection from Spectre.
