Finally I got my VMs upgraded from 17093.1000. :-)

I don't know what MS changed but my Skip Ahead installation now also want to go straigt from 17083 to 17604. Previously it wanted to put 17093. Go figure. Upgrade looking good so far.

Makes me wonder, why does disabling the hiberfile completely, solve the Windows setup issues? I mean, what is the point in having Fast Startup add complexity and reduced reliability to the upgrade or install process, when it is totally useless during setup in the first place?

Makes absolutely NO sense to me.

Fast start up was unchecked before update to 17107, looked at it after update and fast start had a check mark again. Tried the powercfg -h off and got this. (elevated command, then non elevated and straight from the run command.)
It always seems to re-enable hiberfil.sys - just one of those settings that are reset I guess. I turn it off after every upgrade.

The error you got for powercfg -h off is because you are using standard cmd prompt. What do you get if you try elevated? It works for me OK.

Ne meither, Slice! I have an SSD drive in my computer, so I'll just leave hybernate/fast startup off.

The Power setting is one of the first things I checked after this Build was installed. I can see neither Hibernate nor Fast Startup, so I'm guessing hiberfil.sys wasn't re-enabled for me.

I started to reply with that info, John, but saw that Edwin had handled it. However, based on what you say, maybe we should all reinforce info given by each other ...

Sort of a "What He Said" thing.

I think most people already do, usually it is the person being replied to that replies (with quotation) thanking the person for the info.

But it sure wouldn't hurt, especially if users here are blocking one or more users for whatever reasons.
