    I would be happy with just:

    {NT_KERNEL_VERSION}.{NT_KERNEL_REVISION}.{BUILD}.{BUILD_REVISION}

    Which translates to (for example):
    10.0.16299.248

    Very clear and nothing much that can be misunderstood.

    Since the date when something was released is somewhat important, we also need the Release Version number which is 1709 in this case.

    Hahha...ok if its that hard then just using the name Latest Windows is enough. Let MS worry about how up to date it is and let the users focus on their FB surfing experiences.

    Some users don't even know the difference between Windows 7/8/10 and Home/Pro/Enterprise.

    I often hear people say "I run Windows Professional" when they really mean Windows 7 Home.

    I don't know the difference between Pro and Enterprise. I certainly don't know the difference between PfW and Enterprise.

    AFAIK there are only 2 versions - Home and Pro - all other SKU are virtual depending on your license.

    Even Home and Pro are same thing with some features turned on or off.

    Exactly! Well, not turned off, but removed completely. And same goes for Enterprise.

    EDIT: The correct way to say this is: On Pro some features are added which does not exist on Home and on Enterprise some features are added which does not exist in neither Home nor Pro. If you upgrade (get the new features), you can not go back, without re-installing the lesser capable OS Edition.

    Actually there is allegedly a way of going back without clean installing. You have to do a couple if regedits to fool system it is Home installed, then do a repair upgrade with a Home iso.

    Yes, but that proves exactly what I was saying. You can not revert edition without a new install, which your repair media does and then links the user data and apps to. :)
