I've had the problem for two days. I downloaded the MSU from MS's site and tried it that way and it says, "Update already installed". I cannot figure it out.

There are a bunch of choices, I just chose the top one on the list that was over 600 mb.

This is a new install also, just been running updates and not doing anything else. I guess at this point, I should just wait until they fix it.... assuming they do.

Next time to eliminate a few of them search the catalog that way:
    KB4074588x64.

Already install isn't because of a new installation. It was installed from WU?

See in Settings under update history...
If not the case, click the link in post #1.

Yeah, I figured out which update it was supposed to be. There are two with the same number for AMD X64 systems. One says it isn't for my computer, the other says already installed. (Windows update keeps trying to download it over and over and over and then after restart, I get the update failed message. It's a vicious circle.)

Yesterday, it was a constant circle of WU downloading and installing Synaptics drivers after I'd uninstall it. I was able to permanently block them by hardware ID and use the generic Windows driver that I wanted. That is the only thing I've done since the fresh install. I've had Windows update fail many times over the years and it eventually sorts itself out. I rarely use the laptop with the update problem. I think I'll go check my Intel notebook and see if it updates correctly.

It's days like this, I'm happy to use OSX as my main computer.

(Edit, installed fine on my other laptop. I am wondering if it's AMD specific.)

Hum, seems like after this update my Windows Live Mail 2012 on IMAP is not uploading my e-mail. It is attempting to update the folders and just stalls out. Seems like lately updates are attacking my old MS programs. Maybe another mail program, other than MS, may fill the bill. Hum, maybe Unix?

    Remote Backup

We have been running a backup application on our customer's Allworx IP Phone servers for over 5 years. The servers are pointed to a static remote IP address which points to an internal Win 10 system running 16299.248 (we originally used a Win7 Ultimate WS for 4 years and then a Win 10 Pro WS for the last few years with no problems). The Win 10 WS runs the Allworx "OfficeSafe" Software and stores the output in our directories. Starting in January some of the backups started to fail and it has been getting worse over the last two week giving us a server time out error message.

Do any of you experts have a firewall settings solution that we have missed? BTW the process still runs without error on Win 7. All help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are trying to install this update and it keeps asking you to reboot here may be a very quick fix.

FIX: When installing this update be sure you are logged in with the user account that owns your W10 license. Use winver to check to see which user owns the license. NOTE: If you had to manually install your original upgrade to windows 10 you are likely to be affected.

Suspect this month update broke my Razer mouses:

Anyone experience issue with Razer mouse driver unavailable or error? Both my Razer Atheries and DeathAdder fail to work.

    Laptop: Lenovo 710S-131KB
    Mouse:
    Atheries: driver error (Bluetooth connection)
DeathAdder: driver not available (USB connection)

Re-install driver also fail to work.

Swap with Logitech M557, work fine.

Atheries works fine when connected to my company HP 745 Elitebook laptop.
Actually it is not the update that cause Razer mouses issue. It is running disk cleanup to remove Windows update files that cause the problem:

Just an update, resetting back to factory default resolved issue. Updated to 16299.248 also no issue.

But problem returned when I did disk cleanup to remove Windows update files. After restart, both Razer mouses stop working and a exclamation mark on Intel AC-8260 Bluetooth.

Installing latest driver from Intel website still no go.

I will try older drivers later.

after getting this update, i also decided to grab the geforce 390.77 driver to see if it would fix the choppiness in Path of Exile, it hasn't. i'm also now FORCED to play with vsync on, also it took longer then normal when installing the driver, almost 8min with 5 screen flickers to the usuall less 2min 1 flicker.

My mother uses, or more correctly, used Windows Live Mail until this update. Something in the update has messed with WLM and it is no longer useable. She keeps getting the same message you are getting plus others. It sounds as if MS has stopped the ability to use WLM for whatever reason. Windows 10 mail works with the same credentials. I don't understand why MS would do this. She is 80 and trying to get her to learn a new email system is not easy. W10 mail is not as easy to use at WLM but I guess she has no choice.

Is anyone seeing any performance issues after the installation of KB4074588? A number of my programs are running and opening much slower them before. Is this tied to the Spectre fixes?

Also, I see that KB4074588 was installed twice on my computer, once on Feb 13th and another time on Feb 15th. Both have the exact same title. Anyone know what that is about? Could that be the cause of my slow down?

    Thanks for any thoughts.
