@johngalt about Malwarebytes. I didn't have any Beta components turned on. I had trouble with 3.3.1 on a earlier Insider build and downgrading back to 3.2 solved the problem. I was hoping that Malwarebytes would work on this build but sadly it doesn't. I haven't seen anyone else post here or on the Malwarebytes forum about this problem so I imagine that there is something on my system causing this. Maybe tomorrow or Sunday I'll join their forum and report it. Not sure if I'll reinstall just to get the needed log file though. As for automatically updating on versions 3.2 and older It always use to notify me that a new version was available and ask if I wanted to update.
    OK.

I just woke up this morning and have been furiously troubleshooting my own issue with 3.3.x that has never happened before.

MB Service was using over 9 GB of RAM and my system was completely unresponsive. Used the reset button to hard reboot, and after I watched the RAM usage again climb as soon as I was logged in - over 1 GB in the first minute, over 2 30 seconds later.

I'm going to post over there without uninstalling to see if they can quickly find the issue.

And, again, this is on FCU, not an Insider build.

Also, upon the first reboot web protection refused to enable, but that was the least of my concerns lol....

Mine unlicensed itself after a game crash this afternoon. I had to reinstall MBM. It had trouble contacting the activation server.

They say, turning off web protection should work for now...

It ends up turning itself off, and the service spins into oblivion! 85% cpu and 95% memory on this box. That is a lot!!!

I figured all of the above out by the time I finished replying here lol.

Except mine never got to the point of killing itself, I did that for it before it could, so I ma still licensed and still have it installed.

But you want to see some real fallout, try to make a post over there right now - and watch the lag.

I had CPU utilization of around 70-90%, and RAM usage was at 99% (9+ GB for the MBService, and the rest was system - and my pagefile was getting hit a lot lol).

Upon a forced reboot via the reset button, After logging in I pulled up task manager and watched it start steadily climbing - 1 minute into log in I was over 1 GB, 30 seconds later over 2. So, I just quite MB.

it took a few minutes, but everything went back to fine (in terms of resource usage).

Then I came here to make posts, and start looking at the MB forums to make my replies to other post and whatnot - and it was so slow there that I got all the last several replies in here while waiting to finish answering posts there lol.

Just had same problem with MBAM though it caused GPU driver crash and blue screen. Thought CPU chip on way out. Since I've run the uninstaller tool and re-installed it's running ok now.

Web protection has just turned itself off and won't start.

Yes, they pushed out a new update - easiest fix is to:

    Quit MB
    Restart - let it update
    Fixed.

They are still looking into the web protection issue (which, from what I am reading is the root cause of the RAM usage in the first place).

On initial re-install MBAM was ok but it crashed the laptop again, CPU 44% and ram at 98% last I saw task manager. Have reverted to the free version for now.
