Does that mean what I think it does? Maybe we'll have a new Build to bash bugs with?
I've probably got this one mixed up with another, but the last time they released a build at a Bug Bash, it was Barcelona, Spain. And I don't think it went very well at all. Can't recall the details, just wasn't very pretty!

Oh, well, just a thought. Seems to be that with a bug bash going on, it would be perfect timing to get bugs caught a little bit faster than normal.

I did a thread search and did not come up with anything. I run a 6850k overclocked to 4.4ghz and since update 17063/83 the overclock does not work in windows. No bios settings were changed and my front panel that I have my display in still shows the bios commanding a 44 multiplier but in Windows the chip is running at default 3.8ghz. I have messed with power plans and still no dice. Anyone else seeing this?

You're very welcome, Citrix; someone gave me the information and I just passed it on.

I agree with changing to slow ring, since that's probably the best way to "slow down" any new updates that may be causing havoc with your machine.

And certainly, if things don't change, I'd go to a clean install. Sometimes, that's the best thing to do.
    Good advice Wyonna

Are you sure that hte CPU is only running at 3.8 GHz, or is it just windows reporting that it is running 3.8 GHz?

What 3rd party software have you used to verify that the CPU is in fact not overclocked when Windows is running?

I've certainly performed enough of those (clean installs) over the last couple of months lol...

Here you go, This is with my bios still commanding 4.4ghz and even putting the system under full load it's just stuck at 3.8ghz.
What I have noticed is when 17063/83 got installed it installed a new version of the Intel IMEI firmware. I can uninstall it from add/remove programs, reboot and try to install the IMEI from my motherboard manufacturer but it won't install as it says it's already installed. I know the IMEI firmware has a lot to do with how the CPU is controlled in Windows.

And have you run InSpectre to see which patches (if either / both) are installed on your machine?

Because with InSpectre, you can disable them on the fly and see if that is the cause, versus anything in 17074 / 17083, and once you rule them out, then you can focus on the IP builds to see if they are doing something weird...

Ran inspectre, said system is meltdown protected but not spectre protected. Disabled meltdown and rebooted and still the same situation. It has to be something to do with the IMEI firmware.

Fun for the feeble at 4 AM waiting for a new build. Logged in here on Firefox running Ubuntu on the Linux Subsystem for Windows. This Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17083 for PC Fast+Skip-screenshot-04h-17m-54s-.jpg is Fedora Rawhide, Ubuntu Bionic and Debian Sid running xscreensaver on my HP ESXi server. The xscreensaver would not be happy to see this
