For those of you geeks who like me are playing with customized Windows Insider images and wonder how to get a larger than 4 GB custom install.wim to a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive, I just made this tutorial:

Thanks. I attempted one last install this morning after clearing all of the WU cache in the event that it would help. I also uninstalled MalwareBytes and disabled all startup items prior to install. As a final precaution, I uninstalled the Nvidia driver (from Jan 9) before executing the install. Same result -- system updates through the multi-stage reboot process then hangs on trying to log back into the system. Rebooting gets to login screen but fails when logging in and results in black screen with svchost.exe error. Rolled back to slow ring build for now. If future updates produce same results, I'll do a clean ISO install to eliminate any possible legacy errors. Appreciate the feedback.

I seem to be somewhat iconoclastic as to the AV programs I use (as well as with backup/imaging software). I am using IObit Malware Fighter Pro 5.5 and scanning right now. This software has never been a problem during Insider updates, low on resource usage etc) WD defers to it.

Will we get 17088 or 17089 later this week? Time will tell.

You're very welcome, Citrix; someone gave me the information and I just passed it on.

I agree with changing to slow ring, since that's probably the best way to "slow down" any new updates that may be causing havoc with your machine.

And certainly, if things don't change, I'd go to a clean install. Sometimes, that's the best thing to do.

Does that mean what I think it does? Maybe we'll have a new Build to bash bugs with?
