If I get a troublesome directory that will not delete, I just reboot, select Macrium Reflect from my boot menu, and use its file explorer to delete directory. Works every time.

The only thing troublesome about unlocker is that it triggers an AV warning in some AV programs. But other invaluable programs, like uuptosio.exe, do as well.

It's a matter of preference and experience. Again, my point is why MS has not solved the bug with the disk cleanup program. If memory serves they annouced they had fixed that plroblem in a Insider Build that was released less than a year ago.

I have to respectfully disagree. if it was a bug in the system, many more of us would have the same problem. As posted by several others, some of us simply do not have that problem - which then leads to could it be a combination of processes that are causing this to occur in certain systems only, which makes tracking the bug down a lot harder.

Also, the RD command built into cmd is faster, easier, and triggers 0 warnings from AV (thus far). If we could take UUP files and make .ISOs directly from CMD without any third party files, we'd do it that way as well.

Ha - in all the time I spent this weekend on other things, neglecting my computer and the clean install I started (and restarted a couple of times) on Friday, I ended up missing a couple of piece of mail from the insiders group.

    1) Pilot program focusing on 5 apps:

    • Roblox
    • VLC Media Player
    • RealNetwork Video Downloader
    • GPMDP (Google Play Music Desktop Player)
    • iHeartRadio

I use GDMDP, so I guess I will enter.

    2) Microsoft Tech Summit conferences - new cities have been added :
    • Atlanta (yay, that's near me!)
    • Houston

More info: Microsoft Tech Summit 2017-18 – Free 2 Day Tech Event

Unfortunately, Atlanta is already full. So I have to join a wait list.

Definitely entering the pilot program for GDMDP - only problem - is it for the one in the M$ store, or the standalone installer? Hmmmm....lol

What exactly? Coves? Or was it suggested word, while typing? Can't tell from your picture…

    Like this? Attachment 172743
When I stated caret browsing it will be in an HTML document as shown below. If it was a suggested word I would've said so. The choice used to be in Advanced settings, but now removed. F7 is still the hotkey just as in IE and I'd imagine other browsers. Must've hit that key by mistake.

OK. If I run into this situation again I'll use rd /s and see how it goes. The problem I'm describing (whether or not you call it a "bug") has been reported by others on the Feedback Hub. I'll see what happens with the next build. Also

Also I wonder what 3rd-party programs the Microsoft OS developers use if any?

OK! But that was not my point. Asus & 4+ years old was the the issue here since those devices come with Asus support software straight from MS that ALWAYS contains one file that must be deleted using DOS/Short name. There are many other branded laptops with same issue, but Asus is only one I got atm.
