Not sure if I'm liking the "Let Cortana help" feature in Edge on this build. It searches ok with great results, but the choice to open a tab on the bottom is now gone. It uses what is like Smart Lookup in Office, which only shows the results in that column. Some searches I'd rather have it on a tab to refer back to if need be.

Thanks, Shawn. Preparing to install. Keeping the same thread I take it?

Which probably means no 17079 tomorrow then, since why else would they bother to fix 17074 (unless, I suppose, they're doing it as a step on the way to putting it into the Slow Ring next week or something)?

Does anyone use Office Insider here? If so, Skype for Business has had a horrible issue starting with 17063 (but continuing to 17074) where it pops up numerous times when running any other Office app. I was hoping that someone has figured out how to stop that behavior while still actually being able to use Skype for Business. It's incredibly annoying, since Skype for Business steals focus.

Yeah, it's basically the same other than the two added fixes.

But is it whole build upgrade for those already on 17074, or just a patch? This would seem like an ideal time to use a patch.

I'm skipping it either way--but especially if it's a whole build upgrade--since both issues are N/A here.

It updates to build 17004.1002 (new) vs 17004.1000 (old), but basically just a patch for this release.

UPDATE 1/18: Today we have released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17074.1002 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. This build is the same as the version of Build 17074 released last week with 2 additional fixes. We have fixed the issue causing AMD PCs to become unbootable which means we have removed the block for AMD PCs we put in place last week. And we also fixed the issue causing certain devices to hang on the boot screen after upgrading if virtualization is enabled in the BIOS.

Just to be clear, is it a Patch Tuesday-style update (small, quick), or the usual type we have here that downloads and then lays down the whole thing, taking an hour or three, depending on hardware?

Just because it changes very little doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't the long form.

It updates the same way as a normal Insider preview release.
