If anyone knows of any other "legacy filter drivers" creating a problem (or even not creating a problem--you can run "fltmc filters" to see what you have), such as ones used in Macrium Reflect and Mozy, here's a place to post about them:

17063 legacy file system filter - Microsoft Community

It's there where we'll find out if the problems are going to require driver rewrites or not. I have a feeling that there are probably dozens of programs that use this kind of driver, since they've been in use for a very long time.
Nice work on the post in MS. I did not add anything since the only one I have you already mentioned. But for the record:

    Code:

And the command works in both CMD and PowerShell. Both need to be run with elevated privileges, though.

well, the issue is not directly macrium, the issue is the lock on legacy kernel drivers set by default from 17063 onward so that those drivers are not loaded at boot. I'm not sure if it affects what is happening on my pc I'll try the suggestion in the article as soon as I get home from work.
Did you figure out your issues?

I tried to do a clean install of 17074, but the ISO I made wouldn't partition my SSD for some reason, so I clean installed the FCU then immediately upgraded to 17074. I had to run the audio troubleshooter a couple of times, but both my Logitech headset and webcam seem to be functioning properly on this build.

Updated the physical Windows 10 to 17074. No problems until I tried to use uuptoiso to create the ISO and received.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    DIR->ESD: Microsoft-Windows-Xps-Xps-Viewer-Opt-Package
DIR->ESD: Microsoft-Windows-RegulatedPackages-WOW64-Package[ERROR] Can't open "\??\C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\1d2d8508bd1c77f531f91153f1a702b8\amd64_Microsoft-Windows-RegulatedPackages-WOW64-Package~~AMD64~~10.0.17074.1000\wow64_microsoft-windows-mfmpeg2srcsnk_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17074.1000_none_c45058101f714b86\mfmpeg2srcsnk.dll" for reading (status=c0000022): {Access Denied}A process has requested access to an object, but has not been granted those access rightsERROR: Exiting with error code 47: Failed to open a file.
    ------------------------------------------

Execution continued but the ISO creation failed. Fortunately I had previously successfully made the 17074 ISO and install an instance successfully.

I did a full backup using AOEMI Backupper Pro and told it to put the computer after a successful backupl. Unfortunately instead of sleep the computer was shutdown and required a hard reset to boot up Windows.

I will do another image after running disk cleanulp and see if that happens again. If I do have to do a hard reset again I'll try to find something in a system log.

Initially Ithe system feels a bit faster. This is an AMD chip so I don't know if Microsoft provides a patch for Spectre. There is a lot to checkout in this build but the Insider Team is barreling along with Tuesday's compile now at 10.0.17076.1000 (rs_prerelease.180109-1435)

    Good luck!
Thanks! It all went perfectly well the second time. On 17074 now, and everything seems to be working well. But still haven't had a chance to really check everything yet. Tomorrow.

Have you tried using the Github method to cteate isos. It is very fast and @Kari has produced a video.

Finally found the time to update. This one took a while, around an hour to complete.

I have managed to do a clean install of 17063 this morning and trying to upgrade after reinstalling all the programs and settings, I am not satisfied with this method as I have to reinstall everything and it's time consuming task, I would very much like the update to work properly, anyway, have sent the feedback.

Take a look here if you haven't already. From the Blog:

For Insiders who reported that Windows needs activation after upgrading to Build 17063, this build includes the fix that caused the issue however you will need to use the Activation Troubleshooter to get your activation back into a good state once you’re on this build.

    https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2018/01/11/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-17074-pc/
I hadn't noticed if 17063 that I updated to 17074 had lost activation - it did not behave as if it was not activated - no notifications to activate on the settings page, for instance.

However 17074 does not fix the issue - Activation Troubleshooter just restarts the computer when you follow the recommendation to upgrade, and the lack of Activation is still notable in settings, Update and security, Activation, and in sysdm.cpl, but like in 17063, there are no other indications that the system is not behaving as if activated, and other insider builds under test on the same hardware show they are activated normally.

Switching from local to MS accounts does not change the issue.

Also MSASCui.exe no longer starts the legacy desktop interface for Windows Defender, it switches straight to the Windows Store app interface in both 17063 and 17074.
