Here's a response from one of MSI's forum moderators in response to the question Is MSI going to offer BIOSes with fixed microcodes for LGA1150 boards (Spectre)?

The only official statement that we (we meaning the moderators) have from MSI is that they are working on it.

We don't know exactly which boards MSI will go back and fix, and we don't know when it will happen.

Yes, I realize that is not the response you want. I can't give you something that we don't have unfortunately. MSI is being tight lipped on it, and has merely said they are working on it, and that's it.

That being said, if that answer is not a 'good enough' answer, your best bet is to contact them directly. See : >>How to contact MSI.<<

I wish that I could provide you with more information than that, and I would if I could (as I have with everything I try to pass on to users....). We just haven't been told anything more than that.
Which is more or less in line with official responses from other vendors (ie Asus still has no timeline, or information posted about what they WILL do, other than acknowledging there is a problem and that updates will come).

Microsoft halts distribution of Spectre & Meltdown fixes on AMD systems after reports of unbootable PCs

Last night after finishing work on my computer, I ran PCmatic. The computer crashed at the last part of the PCmatic operation. My computer won't reboot. It says "Inaccesible Boot device". I think I just got hit with that Spectre thing. I have an old Dell, AMD processor.

    Hi guys,

Recently from two or three days ago, my HP laptop freezes suddenly and I can't do anything except pushing down the power button until the power goes away and it shuts down. When it's freezed the mouse doesn't move and none of the keys works. Is this the effect of so-called spectre or meltdown? Am i affected? The HP is telling me that I will have a bios update in 15 february but until that time what can I do to prevent these freezes? It's frustrating.

amd64-microcode just was presented - in Debian Sid. Makes up a little from the lack of anything from the Insider team.

I don't think this is related, unless there is a newly generated virus/worm that's been deployed to exploit. I've not heard of anything thus far. That's not to say there isn't, though.

    Good luck to you.

That's nothing new really. Waste of time reading IMO. It's mentioned in the OP here. The AV must change/set a certain key in the Registry before the updates install, otherwise it fails.
