    Microsoft would be wise to change course and use Google's fix for the second variant of Spectre (which doesn't require a CPU microcode update).

    Definetely. Whatever avoids the general public having to mess about with firmware/BIOS updates is surely the best approach. If they expect the public to be updating these things then it's just not going to get done. Most of the public don't even know that a BIOS exists!!!!

    You are correct, however, while I know BIOS exist, I am still very confused about what Dell/Intel are really advocating as to what I need to do. At this point, I feel most secure just letting it play out a while longer until they are a little more definite about the situation.
