Thanks for the quick response but are we confusing 2 different things?
The Local Group Policy Editor settings you illustrate, I’ve always had on my PRO machines set from:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update.
I have it set to “2 = Notify before downloading and installing any updates.”
Your screenshot looks the same and this does what I expect it to do. As we know, this is an integral part of Windows and is what your linked tutorial explains. I set mine before updating from Win 7 to Win 10, and it has remained set throughout all the various Win 10 versions.
I was actually asking about the Freeware prog Windows Update Mini Tool and how IT runs when an update is detected to allow me to block individual updates when notified. I have mine set to Notify for all Update Services (see attached screenshot) but I don’t understand how it notifies unless I run the tool manually.
Also, Local Group Policy Editor is good for Windows Pro, but I also have a Windows Home system, which is where the MiniTool is hopefully of more use.
