Sorry bit confused here. I'm on 1709 16299.125, on Defender only and still havent had this update (in the UK). I'm on an i7 3770k.

    Do i wait?
They seem to be rolling it out quite slowly. I didn't get it until 15:00 GMT.

Not available through Update (tried three times))......installed using Brink link.
If patched WHY not available via Update.???
who knows. i saw news about the patch having been released 7 or 8 ish hours earlier this morning, 10 hours after seeing that still no patch on wu. i mean, there are people on win defender still ain't got the patch so that wasn't the reason. probably them releasing it slowly in case everyone in the world get bsod or something at the same time.

Strange, nothing on Windows Update. I went to the catalogue and there was the right update. So I downloaded it and installed it. (1709 Windows 10)

    As of now no problems...

Was this the only patch or will there be more soon? (I use Win Defender) Or rather: after installing this patch, are we out of the woods and into the safe zone?

I was thinking more of the freezing at 100%, which is a known issue.
Yes I looked at that and checked for KB4054022, and its not installed. I did decide to re-boot the machine and had Windows update Retry the install. It sat with the flying dots and then presented that I needed to restart and now I'm at 16299.192. Go Figure ???

I am not sure on what to do. The registry key (or folder) mentioned in the opening post is not in my registry. And I am not using any AV, so the key is not going to be created by one. I checked Windows updates manually and nothing gets offered. What you guys think, should I download the package to update or better to wait? Knowing myself, I am leaning toward downloading and installing the package and get this thing over with but I am not sure.

Of course, you can always go to MS Update catalog like @ RingTailCoon did and download it.

Does Defender need to update itself first?
