    Performance post patch?

    Hi guys,

    As someone who's just postponed an order for a new i7 8700k over the Meltdown/Spectre shit storm, could anyone please provide me with some benchmarks on the performance hit this patch allegedly introduces?

    I have been searching for this info all morning

    Nothing showing here even after a manual update check.

    I've benchmarked a very CPU intense application I use for reference by timing it running to completion during a couple of different tasks. Be interesting to compare. I'll also do a before and after winsat test, although I don't know if that will show any differences or not.

    I'm getting what Keith got....updates on a VM, RP and FCU, but not offered on the host. Odd, at least.

    Me neither but possibly due to our Anti-Virus being incompatible with the update?

    As usual Microsoft are not helping users and being very evasive by not naming those which they already know are incompatible.

    Due to an issue with some versions of Anti-Virus software, this fix is only being made applicable to the machines where the Anti virus ISV has updated the ALLOW REGKEY.

    Contact your Anti-Virus AV to confirm that their software is compatible and have set the following REGKEY on the machine
    Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat"
    Value Name="cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc"
    Type="REG_DWORD”
    Data="0x00000000”

    Probably a hardware incompatibility, or they are just being cagey and releasing it a bit at a time.

    My AV is Defender so I would hope that's OK.

    Fatal loss of quality when playing video UHD HEVC with a high bitrate of more than 50 Mb / s in Daum Potplayer 1.7.7145. The difference with the morning quality and what became after installation KB4056892 is simply depressing. Grain on all surfaces. Artifacts when switching to full-screen mode when playing H264. In games, the performance is at the same level, but the quality of the picture has become approximately the same as in 16-bit games. Microsoft, Intel just robbed me. You need a new computer to buy. Probably, they specially "found out" after 10 years a vulnerability in Intel processors, in order to spur sales of new equipment. I do not doubt for a minute.
