    Go to the catalog and search for it specifically. It is there.

    "Due to an issue with some versions of Anti-Virus software, this fix is only being made applicable to the machines where the Anti virus ISV has updated the ALLOW REGKEY. Contact your Anti-Virus AV to confirm that their software is compatible and have set the following REGKEY on the machine
    Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat"
    Value Name="cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc"
    Type="REG_DWORD”
    Data="0x00000000” "

    Does this mean if I modify or install that particular reg key it would cause this update to not install? If so, what should that key read, if someone has the key, please post it. I do not want this update until I see how it plays out. Time seems to be of the essence.
    That is precisely what my reg key reads, and nothing yet thru Windows Update.

    I'm amazed

    It seems a lot of people here are hot to get an update that might just slow your machine down, especially since Intel has indicated the "bug" might be no big deal. I have disabled updates on my win 7 and 8.1 machines, both with older Q6600 processors. Wish I could figure a way to stop it on my k7700 10 home system.

    You obviously do not understand how important this issue is. You are putting yourself at a really serious risk - the flaw allows many of the built in security protections to be bypassed in effect.

    Anybody who fails to update is TOTALLY dumb.

    Anyway, the impact is so overstated. Performance of pcs is affected by lots of factors.
