Not having much luck with this update so far. WU is stuck finding updates and for some reason the so called stand-alone update is searching for updates on this computer. Go figure.

The standalone cumulative update contains all the updates issued since 1709 was released. It's searching to find out what updates you already have, then it installs the ones from the cumulative update that you haven't got.

So it could take a while then.

how long is a piece of string? :)

To reassure yourself that it's actually busy doing something, open Task Manager. You should see high CPU and Disk activity on the Performance tab, and TiWorker.exe busy on the 'Details' tab.

CPU is plodding along at 4-8% at the moment. No sign of TiWorker.exe but Defender seems to be busy scanning via MsMpEng.exe.

Tried standalone download on one machine & was plodding for an hour.

Killed task, deleted folders, rebooted, tried again. Completed in about 20 minutes.
Something is very wrong with this update.

I see some "delta" updates that I didn't notice before. They might install faster?

A cumulative update is all the updates since 1709 was released, a Delta update is just the updates released since the previous cumulative update. You need to already have all previous updates to be able to use the Delta update, in this case that means you have to have build 16299.125.

I know all that, been an Insider for over 3 years.
All machines are already on Build 16299.125 except for one that was updated to 16299.192.

Stupid Windows Update still says Device is Up-to-Date.
I'm just about ready to run the Delta.
Updated one machine via Delta, will do the remaining 5 the same way.
