Why is there not a webcam that can make my computer a Windows Hello compatible device? To me to me looks like Microsoft is committed to selling new expensive computers. I think I will be sticking with my very secure passwords.

My understanding is the Camera must have "Intel RealSense" capability for facial recognition.
Fingerprint recognition being via the keyboard.

Thanks for that quick reply! I found the Logitech Brio and I might be tempted to buy and give that a try. I may put my Microsoft webcams on Ebay to help pay for it.

I get the impression that this biometric security would not work on my Desktop comp. (which has Windows 10 latest). Only on laptops! Why?

(My interest would be fingerprint recognition.)

    a) How does biometrics will work on a vpn machine?

    b) Does this means you're losing more privacy?

Those two questions is based on a article that I read a while ago but I can't recall where and that said:

More or less "This new tecnology will help authorities to idenfify an individual such as Criminals or Terrorist". But, to me the word 'Individual' means anyone.

If that is true will be there any benefit on using a VPN?

To me, all it does is give two more things to the bad guys to steal.

If someone steals your password, you can change your password.
How does one change their finger print or face if they are stolen.

It's kind of like changing your password on a bank account, which can be done.
How does one change their Social Security number if it's stolen. You can't.

I keep no passwords of any kind on my computers. If my systems are hacked, such things will not be found.
If I have a 'keylogger' on my systems, several security scans with several programs should have found it.
If one uses a 'Master Keyword' location shame on you. Once the 'Master Keyword' is hacked all your passwords are stolen.
Those stolen passwords can be used by the bad guys for a long time before you are aware of them using the passwords.

I personally keep my passwords written down with paper and pencil. A new invention I use is a Rolodex.

I tend to agree. I use a BIC Biro. Will fade badly after a couple of decades though
