Someone earlier in the thread asked about how to get the computer to shut down correctly. I used the old trick to disable Fast Startup.

After disabling and rebooting, my Defender shield icon is green also (which could be pure coincidence). But as my computer is a Core i7 965 EE based machine, with a mobo that does only BIOS, no UEFI, I have no use for Fast Startup anyway.

If you are referring to the restarting of apps after shutdown, switch off option to use login info to finish setup things in settings, accounts menu.

Nope - not talking about that. Referring to normal shutdown that hangs without actually shutting down.

So, I've managed to get the warning flag on my Defender icon again. However, after again dismissing the item in Apps, it went back to green:

As for MB 3 and the warning on it, that is my doing - for whatever reason, both here and at DroidRzr forums, if I have website protection enabled, it will not let me go to the Advanced post screen (and at DR, it won't even let me submit a quick reply). So, discount that as having anything to do with my issue, because I only disabled the website protection earlier today, but the issue with the App reset message and the warning flag on Defender has been occurring for a few weeks.

Opened Defender....Performance reported urgent attention needed, apparently hanging or crashing apps....could find nothing untoward in All Apps.
Ran Troubleshooter...followed suggestions....All now working properly in Defender.
I might try to let the troubleshooter run again, keeping everything manual, and see if it does the same thing to me that it did before....after I make a backup and a System Restore backup lol.

I think I might have figured out (partially) what is contributing to the warning label on the Defender icon - this behavior I am about to describe is occurring on both my machines, 1 an older BIOS-based desktop with an MBR system drive, and the other a newer UEFI-based laptop with a GPT system drive.

If you see the warning label on the Defender icon (IOW, the yellow triangle is on Defender) then try to run diskpart from a CMD window / Run dialog / start menu.

    Do you get a
    Code:
    DISKPART>
    prompt, or does it hang?

Now, reboot your machine - does the warning label still show on the Defender icon?

Either way, if it does or it does not, try running diskpart again.

For those of you with a green label (aka everything is hunky dory) does Diskpart work?

For those still with a warning label, does it still not work?

On my laptop, diskpart would not work until a reboot, and the icon had the warning label. Upon reboot, warning label is gone and diskpart is working.

On this machine, Every reboot gives me a warning label on the icon, but from a different reason. Right now it is there, and diskpart is not working. About to reboot to test my theory.

    Hey Johngalt,
    Just tried your suggestion.
Ran diskpart didn't hang and worked.
Rebooted and still got WD Icon warning
Ran diskpart didn't hang and worked

The WD warning I get - WD Firewall is using settings that might not be safe or some such, which disappears on it's own after a few seconds. Still have WD Icon warning tho.

Edit: Rebooted again and this time I got WD warnings about the Firewall and Apps/Software.
Firewall one disappeared on its own again. When it is there it has restore button under it, which does nothing.
Dismissed the Apps/Software one as running the troubleshooter does not fix anything.
WD icon still has warning ... lol

Odd. I am not getting any warnings about the firewall...and my icon changes when it feels like.

I think the issue my computer is facing, where it will show me a notification about an app being reset, is the cause of diskpart not working. Which means my warning label is different from the one that most people are seeing....

    BTW ...
This is a clean install (kept nothing) of 17063 (using the .iso from UUPDump / UUPtoISO). It's running on my laptop in a virtualbox VM. I also noticed a bunch of the normal apps (music, movie&tv,photos, alarm&clock, maps) didn't get installed. They appeared to reference and error about MS.Net.FrameWork 1.3, that I think is what kept them from installing, but it's just a guess. I was able to manually install them from the store .... All the unwanted games got installed tho ... lol

Yeah, one of the fixes recommended to me in the troubleshooting was to fix the location of the Internet history folder, which it said could fix done of the problems that were being encountered by the Play Store.
